Welcome to the Pippenings Blog!

Thanks so much for visiting. This blog is set up and created for all Pippenings. That means whatever I, Pippi Peterson, am up to. Topics range from RV living which most folks know me for, to cooking, to bellydancing and all other activities I’m up to.

If you’re a fellow RV resident or looking into buying some sort of RV or tiny house, I encourage you to also peruse and even contribute to the Pippenings RV living forum. You’ll find a variety of related topics, advice, stories, Q&A and you can even ask your own questions or partake in discussions.

Also, while you’re on the site, pick up you Keep It Simple bumper sticker. Not only is that a great motto for people living in their RVs but in general. Simple is usually better when it comes to living a fabulous life.

.I have watched all of your videos. I have a 32 ft travel trailer and love to camp. I hope to be independent in a few years. My favorite places to camp are Bethpage in Urbana, Virginia, Hatteras Campground in Avon, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC.

    Keep up the fantastic work.

  2. I have a 1993 bounder motorhome and am halfway through my 1st year full time rv living and I want to say thank you mz pippi,,,I have learned alot from you and I think a site like this is long overdue and who better to launch it than the captain kirk of rv living herself πŸ™‚ kudos to you lil lady I look forward to learning more and sharing my trials with you and your ever growing band of like minded people,,,keep up the good work and thank you πŸ™‚

  3. I just signed up for your blog after watching your video on replacing your toilet. I’ve watched several others, & have appreciated your knowledge & common-sense advice.

I’m facing the same toilet issue, & have been creatively avoiding tackling the task. As a single full-time RVing woman, I do much of my own maintenance, but this chore was really testing my self-confidence.

Now, thanks to you, I’m feeling very capable about just gittin’ ‘er done! πŸ™‚

  4. I love your videos. You do such a great job. It makes me feel good watching you out on your own and taking care of these things. Explaining what you have experienced helps us a lot. Though not full time my wife and I have just purchased our first RV, so here we go.

  5. Hello Pippi,
I must say that you seem to be one of the happiest people ever, it must be due to your RV freedom:)! I have been in my 34′ Rexhall for 2 yrs in June 2015 here in New England and that includes 2 winters!! We even hit -34ΒΊ one night in Feb.
I’m happy to tell you that I left the only apartment below a business (that was closed 4 days of the week) that offered free air conditioning, cable, internet and a yard to live in my RV and it is so empowering to own my own “home” and to make repairs and upgrades that actually work. My RV is completely off grid using Solar to charge batteries and soon to heat hot water (the mounting and plumbing of the components will take quite a bit of work so I’ve been pushing it off).
As I watch your videos I see that we have used similar practices to stay warm and comfy and it’s reassuring just to know that I am not alone in my love for my wheeled residence.
I could tell you so many stories from the past 2 yrs (like all of the crazy mishaps with RV appliances at the worst possible times) but I will save that for later.
Thank you for your love of the “sport” and your contagious enthusiasm.
    Best Regards,
    Jay and TD

    1. Stories by a campfire from some one you just met remembered later when the same mishap happens to you… Nothing better than help given before you really need it. Happy Trails to all of you

  6. Pippi,
I truly enjoy your videos. I learn a lot from your how-to topics and cant seem to get enough of your and Andiamo’s exploits. It’s been more than 20 years since I owned and enjoyed my own motorhome but you’re making me think of pursuing that life again. And for that I thank you. I’m currently introducing “you” to my mother who, at age 88, has bought a motorhome and has begun again to travel and camp as my parents did for many decades while my dad was alive. I try to join her when she’s heading out for her beloved NASCAR weekends but for the most part she does it on her own (plus two greyhounds) and I can’t tell you how happy and proud of her I am. She’ll know when it’s time to hang up her ignition keys. Until then you will be inspiration and enthusiasm for the both of us.
    Kevin

    1. I am so inspired by your post re: your 88 yr. old mother. I am 65, recently retired, and never been alone any where in the RV. I am preparing the RV now for the next trip by my self. I enjoy being out near water, the mountains, or just about anywhere away from the city.

  7. I love your very informative videos! I am hooked! I am living in a 1989 Winnebago Superchief. It has only 25k miles on it and is very comfy. I would like to see more of your commonsense ways of fixing problems that always seem to crop up on our vehicles.
    Thank you!

  8. hello miss peterson. i am Joshua. im a painter living in south louisiana. i was checking out how paper bag floors are done and came across your video of your rv steps. i couldn’t believe how really awesome it came out! the video led me to seeing you belly dance. im thinking to myself that the old father broke the mold after having made you. i would be truly blessed to meet a lady like you. you remind me of the flower children who i met while in the ozarks. you are real. so many people walk around with all 3 eyes closed. i can sense you are wide awake πŸ™‚ i wonder… have u gotten into stained glass? rvs have windows hehehe

      1. here is something to try out. take a clear piece of glass and with glue that drys clear attach pieces of broken stain glass in whatever way u like leaving space between the pieces. then take whatever color grout u like and grout the spaces. wipe with damp sponge. πŸ™‚

  9. Really enjoy your youtube channel, would like to weigh in on who you remind me of: Think you have a striking resemblance to Lana Del Ray!

  10. Hi Pippi, I just purchased a 40ft diesel pusher. It was because of people like you posting both good and bad issues with rving that helped me get my best deal. I am 41, and was beginning to question if this was the right thing for someone as young as me, it’s nice to see that I’m not the only younger person that finds this life cheap and enjoying.

  11. Pippi,
Came across your YouTube website. Very well put together and informative. Though I’m not an RV’r, it is something I’m thinking about for the distant future. Still much to learn about the vehicle and lifestyle. I don’t have a problem with small spaces just too much house and the stuff that goes with it at this time. I’m going to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 2017 and just deciding what to carry on my back has been a challenge. Anyway, in one of your videos you introduced a oscillating tool. I had never heard of that and later purchased one which came in handy doing some repairs on my garage door frame. I could have been using the heck out of this tool for years but glad you showed it in your video. You never know how a video will affect someones life in a positive way:) Will continue to monitor your channels and learn. Perhaps one day…

  12. HI Pippi, I have been watching your vidΓ©os for quite some time now and i enjoy it. The rita’s dress is lovely and you are full of life ! Great ! I am from France and travelled in RV through Europe and north Africa for the past 15 years. Last year We came to California and hire a RV for a month to do a round trip to the National parks, up to Yellowstone, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas as well. I am planning to come back for another month by the end of april 2016 with one of my daughter ( we have 3 ) witch is by the way doing belly dancer (danse orientale). My question is; do people in the state hiring their own RV, is there a blog to do so ? Hope to read you and keep on enjoying us .

    1. Hi Gerard, you can absolutely rent RVs from companies specializing in this. I have never heard of individuals renting out their RVs but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. You may find more security and protection with an established company vs private party just in case an accident happens. One idea is to check airbnb.com. They offer alternative housing and maybe you could find one in an RV. It’s just a thought. Best of luck to you and your family!

    2. There is an RV exchange site in the UK which works like a home exchange site: you exchange your RV in your country with someone else’s RV in another country for the duration of your vacation.

My wife & I have dome several home exchanges but have yet to do an RV exchange.

  13. Hi Pippi, i am sorry but my english is not that good. In my post when i mentioned hiring i mean “to let” their own RV. In France a lot of people are letting their RV when they dont use it.
Nothing to do with RV living but in France very few people are full timers.
    All my best.
    Gerard.

    1. No worries, I understood you. Actually “to let” is very British. I don’t think many people in the US would use even understand this much less actually use it. A funny story about this from my personal experience: I was in England with my German friend and walking around the streets you often see “To let” on signs outside apartments and flats. He said no English speaker ho spoke to ever noticed and figured it took a non-English speaker to see this. He said he always looked at those signs and read “toilet” without the “i”. Haha, kind of funny and interesting, too. Thanks for commenting πŸ™‚

  14. Pippi,
I have truly enjoyed your utube videos on a variety of topics related to RV life. I am a single girl living in a 36′ travel supreme. I was completely lost before finding your videos online. You bring joy to life & RV living. I have started painting the medicine cabinets & getting a bit more organized. Your a real inspiration. Thank yu

  15. Hi Pip, I happened to come across your vidoes again, it’s been many months. Are you using google adwords or.. to find me? Lol.
Your smile And attitude are great. Plus, your easy on the eyes… πŸ™‚
Will you be visiting your family and making some family foods this Christmas?
Check it out I’ve been full time rving since April 2015 and haven’t used the shower. I’ve been spoiled going to planet fitness, visiting family for some big life events, and now at an rv park for the first time in dry camping. I used my shower for storage, but that has been removed and I’m going take a shower in my rv.
Your rv park shower video was goood fun. Wish me the best shower. Haha
Happy Thanks Giving and Merry Christmas to you and yours. RyFy

  17. Pippi,

In one of your videos you stated that there is a video of you repairing or replacing your Hot Water Heater. I’ve searched all of your videos that I can find but cannot find this particular one.

Could you please direct me to it.

    Thanks
    WVDaver

    1. Hi David, the video you’re talking about was my very first RV video. I didn’t do any demonstration of fixing it. I just posted some pics. You can watch it here:

  18. Pippi, I’m not sure how I came across your videos but so glad I did. I am so impressed by you and what your doing. I live in Florida on my boat, when I’m not traveling around the country working, it’s not an RV but it is a small space and there are so many parallels. I’d really like to do my own youtube series, I’ve started creating a very unrefined channel of my boat project as I work on it but it has a long way to go. I don’t know how many people would find it interesting but I love watching videos like yours and figured I have got to start somewhere πŸ™‚ I’m not pretty like you, and I’m probably not nearly as impressive but I can be funny, and I’m pretty creative and skilled when it comes to building and fabricating things. So I think there is some hope for success. I want to thank you for sharing your experiences with us, as you have greatly inspired me. I’ve yet to watch all of your videos, but I will,

  19. hey Pippi , can you tell me about your painting . I think it’s pretty cool. plus there”s so much going on in our world . I just wanted to let you know that you are something more than we can understand right now. I was also wondering if you ever liked 2pac his music is more relevant today than ever.

    1. Do you mean the painting on my wall near the bedroom in the RV? I painted that from inspiration of an old roommate’s Harley. Thanks for noticing it πŸ˜€ I don’t know much about 2Pac. Happy trails!

  20. I just finished watching the video about the inner child or time to relax. Those are good ideas and I especially like the part about sewing. I like to sew as well. It looks like you have a White machine like mine but it sounds like it needs to be oiled. If you don’t know how or you don’t have a book about it, you just undo the 2 screws on top and remove the cover. remove it and add oil where needed. It will be quieter and sew smoother. Be sure to use scrap material to check it after oiling so you don’t get oil on your good material. Use 3 n 1 machine oil. Keep sewing.

      1. I’m new to the blog. Been living off grid with a wood stove and solar in a 28 footer for about a year now and through a mild Montana winter. Some of the best dispersed camping can be found in NW Montana and I would show you where…. I’d be happy to help with inexpensive and simple ways to outfit a rig for long term off grid living. JΓΈrn

  21. On your video cleaning your air conditioner___you did not say anything about oiling the motor. At each end of the motor you have a yellow pull out cap. You remove those and then use like # 20 3 in 1 oil that is non detergent. Put maybe 10 drops at each end and then replace the caps to keep dirt out. Hopefully your motors will then last a long time. I am in no way critical of what you did or said, just thought you might do well to oil them.

  22. Hi Pippi…
Just a short comment to say Mahalo Nui! (Thanks a lot!)
In April, I finally decided to go for it, and live in an RV full time. I took my newly retrieved from AZ, Chinook…drove it to Oregon….and via your advice….placed a “My Rv- your land” post on Craigslist! It was theeeee best advice! I landed this first month at a little farm in Jefferson, Oregon, and it has been awesome! I’m going to stay even longer!

  23. I am trying to save enough to buy a used trailer and be free in an RV! Until then Iam glad to have found your website/Facebook. Your knowledge and experience along with all the posts of your followers/tribe really help me a lot!

  24. I started following you off and on a couple years ago and stuck around until mid 2015’s. Just now trying to get caught up. Your posting all those compilations has been interesting and entermaning . . . Only not in order . . . even backwards. I still admire your determination to plan and learn and then actually accomplish! No wonder you have created yourself your following and friends. Count me in. I get a kick out of you. I’d fall in love with you . . . and have as someone I enjoy. Don’t take me too seriously, however, I am a RV fan (lover), have had several and plan on one more for longer durations. I’m not a full timer. I seldom stay put longer than a few days, and I’m moving about then, usually. I have owned them all in a way, except any class C or any class A over 26 ft. I loves B’s, but haven’t had a B like they make them today . . . Very much like my first A, an Airstream (the first Argosy, a 20 footer that went everywhere easily and with fun & grace. I put over 500,000 miles on all original equipment (not tires, etc.}. A first year edition and my second rv after a Dodge Travco, the original B. I enjoy your dancing. It has improved your figure, not that it was in need. I am now without an rv for the first time since the very early 1070’s. I am a retired architect and a widower. Sort of doubly a widower, having lost wife and ardent traveler companion in one. I am looking for a new B and companion. Soon as I sell my island! (Can’t reach it by a RV-B, nor afford the B without selling the island. I’m in “manufactured home” (they used to call them house trailers back in 1973), with no way to put it on the island, or get back and forth and be a full timer without wheels. I promise to be brief should I text again. I actually hate texting. I am James Walker Lazenby, Jr. Or, Jim, JsWLazenby@gmail.com

  25. Hello Pippi,
Im a newbie follower. Stumbled across your channel about celebrating life.. I have a dog thats also getting weak of old age and a wound that is persistant. Dexter, an adopted chug in his senior citizen years may no longer make it through the holidays and really faced with a dilema. Anyway, you really provided some insights and advice about the dying process and thank you for what you do. You are truly a blessing to many who follows you.
Happy Holidays to you and your Family!
    Maligayang pasko!
    Carlo from phoenix.

    1. Carlo, I’m so sorry to hear where you are at with Dexter. It was the hardest thing I ever experienced. If I can give you any wisdom that I kept coming back to it’s that this is natural and very normal. It’s hard to see it as natural because their whole life, it’s been natural and normal for them to be there. But it was never assumed that they’d be there for ever and ever. We will all take that journey and transformation. If you have any spiritual beliefs you may be able to see too that this isn’t something that you should pity them for. Don’t discount all the amazing years you had together. Give thanks to him and the universe for that co-creation. Those memories and time will forever have been held, cherished and shared between the two of you. Blessings to you both <3

      1. Merry Christmas Pippi,

Today was a sad day. Had to put Dexter to sleep. (refer to my previous post) It was a blessing he made it through Christmas and I will be forever grateful for his companion and an awesome friend he was. Just like you said on your previous video, cherish every moment and I did take a lot of pictures. Very hard to let go but I felt it was the right thing and to do considering his state of health and old age. Please continue to be an inspiration to your viewers. I hope you realize how many peoples lives you’ve touched! Thank you!

        Carlo
