We’re just wrapping up our 5 night boondocking excursion in although we had 30 amp power, we just wanted to see how far our tanks would last.
Happy to say, as we prepare to head back home in California, we still had water left to spare, in our fresh water tank, and we haven’t filled our holding tanks.
As far as electricity, we could have opted just to use our own generator, but there was a curfew time, but we wanted to be able to watch TV late, so we went with the power hookup.
Hopefully this year, we’ll be able to get a solar system installed, so we can be completely unattached to any external facilities.

Yes, that is the ticket! I’m in the process of testing portable solar panels. I’ve been getting about 5 amps of charge from a 100 amp panel. It’s really impressive. I am planning on replacing my 1986 converter charger with a newer multi-stage charger and installing a solar charger…then parking under a tree with the solar panel in the sun! The hard part is getting correct batteries. I think the answer is a flooded type battery, but I haven’t bought them yet. (I live near an Amish community and there is a store that sells batteries and panels to the Amish) I don’t think I even need an inverter because I’m going to get a 12 volt TV. I also need a fan-tastic fan.. 12 volts also.
