Especially if Goodyear Marathons on sale at Camping world for crazy low prices. They could be 10 years old. Do not screw around with tires like I did……cost me a major love scene with the wife!

I was on a 7 day guys Jeep trip in the Sierras. Last day before rolling home I had to buy a clean shirt as I had no clean laundry. Wifey reports that kids were going to church with Grandma so we would have the house ALONE from noon to 4PM. I planned the drive to end at home exactly noon.
I had original cheapshit Kenda tires that looked great but were 6 years old. One of them blew out and tore a fender well out with it. Ouch. Ouch. I happen to carry the tools needed for the repairs, even a small torch to cut the sheet metal that fused to the rim. Put the spare on and made it to Ridgecrest to purchase another spare on a rim as travel without a spare is insane in the desert in August. Walmart has spares ready to install.

Rolled in at 4PM, covered with dirt and grease, and my new “Lone Pine Movie festival” shirt was black from laying on the ground. At 4:01 the kids and grandma arrived.
    Dont screw with tires. Replace!!!!

Also, and this is just MY experience,I will not buy any tires from Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club. Sidewall strength. Cannot say anything more because there is nothing like starting a flame war like tires and oil. Everybody has their unique experiences with tires and oil. As in, which is “best”
    Be safe! 🙂

I am just about to leave for a long road trip from Wales to Spain and decided to check the tires. The tire guy said I should change them all as they were 10 yrs old.
I went home doubting him as the treads were like new. However, The following day I decided not to risk it and have them changed.
Well thank the lord I did, when he took them off they were totally out of shape, more like an egg than a wheel. It was a disaster averted. I can now go with confidence.

My tires on my camper made in Y2K (year 2000 for newbs) had original tires on it. and the tire dates were from 1989!!!!!!!!!!!

the camper company had them on the rack from a large purchase and put em on at the sale time in 1999. my camper was sold as a 2000 model. with 1989 tires.

now get this, we camped 4 times and did short trips, so the tires never really heated up.

Friday, this friday (July 22, 2016) I was heading home about a 2.5 hour trip from a really nice campsite in South Carolina called Camp Lake Jasper. it’s nice look it up.

so about 10 minutes, litterally – one of my two axel tires blew. front drivers.

the thing tore my skirting off and damaged the inside of the wheel well. i can see into the camper from the hole. i have photos, cant upload em. could put links it.

    camping sometimes sucks

two tires, second one blew at 2 hours into the trip just when i thought i was almost home, ended up spending 500 on brand new tires. 10 ply, rated for 80k miles and weight of triple of my camper.

    anyhow
