My current hypothesis is I have an insect nest in the drain side of my fresh water tanks as it will not drain. Any suggestions?
Details: about 1 1/2 year ago I drained the tank, we did not use the trailer last year, last week I put some water in the fresh water tanks to rinse it out, however the tank now will not drain. I did not replace the cap on the end of the tube thus my theory of an insect nest in the drain the tube. Considering blowing it out with compressed air from air compressor.
September 29, 2015 at 9:48 am #1145PippiKeymasterHow long is your drain tube? Is it rigid piping? Mine is only about a foot long so I would imagine a bristle brush on the end of a long wire handle would be able to clean out some access to it. Compressed air might work as well.
A hard lesson but now you know to put the cap back on. Sorry you have to deal with it now. Best of luck.

If you use compressed air, use only about 15 to 20 lbs. max. I would be more inclined to use a piece of mechanics wire up thru the drain tube. I can geto my tubing under the bed. If the mechanic wire didn’t break the dirt dobber nest loose, I would be more inclined to to hook an air line or water line up tonthe drain tube after the water tank. In the Bounders, the drain tube and pump is located thru an outside cabinet on the drivers side rear cabinet. Disconnect the tubing there and try the air or water pressure there. Gary
October 1, 2015 at 5:32 pm #1160KalaitParticipantGary and Pippi, thanks for the response. I am not sure how long the tube is and no I did not know or think of replacing the tube. I currently have in the tank a fresher cleaner for the tank about 1/2 or better full. allowing this solution to soak for a few weeks before trying something more drastic.
My next try will be plastic weed wacker line, and measure how long the line is to the tank. Not sure how I can hook the air compressor in at this time, but starting to research it. Going tomorrow to ask the local RV techs their suggestions. The tank fresher/cleaner was a weekend tech’s best guess.
Again Thanks, this is the only place I have received an answer though I posted on several places.

Advice keep small wire which will fit into the drain tube doubled, as pressure builds while filling your tank, work the wire into the tube dislodging the debris allowing for it to be pushed out.

January 8, 2016 at 6:18 pm #1503KalaitParticipantNot a problem 🙂 and to think I had a big dealer in San Antonio a major drain replacement. Both out of the question, and out of the budget.

been in it a couple weeks… love it so far.. one problem though..
i did not realize i had the switch for fresh water tank instead of
city water… so i been trying to figure out how to drain the 1/3 of fresh water from it’s tank.September 16, 2016 at 6:05 pm #1847KalaitParticipantRobert, your fresh water tank should have a drain, which will irrigate the road/gravel/or lawn under your trailer. Hope this helps.
September 17, 2016 at 5:21 pm #1877PippiKeymasterYes, Kalait is right. You may have to search you other bins to locate the drain. Mine aren’t in the same bin as all my hook ups. In fact I have two drains on mine, one for each side of the RV. Maybe so it can drain faster and easier.
Good luck finding it and congrats on the new purchase!
Happy trails 😀

If you are staying in one place for a long time hooked up to city water, you could turn it off for a bit and just use up what’s in the tank. A few showers, dish washing or laundry, depending on your tank size and if you have a washer. Then go back on city water.
