Pippi – Came across your vids while researching van renovations. Really got a kick out of your video on fixing the toilet leak. Your demeanor and attitude displayed during the fix was just dang inspirational. Anyway, here’s my question: Assuming that moving/driving the RV for errands is often avoided, how do you go grocery shopping, go to the movies and places where riding a bike might not be practical? Is running around town something one gives up or curtails when joining the RV ranks?

Hey Roadie, I tow my car where I go. It would not be an ideal life for me to go grocery shopping and run all my errands in the RV.

    Best of luck!

Do you think its feasible to just take a bike for short trips to the store or would that limit my RV park choices? Maybe I could just use UBER once a week if needed. I thought about towing a car too but i’m not sure I want to add more length to my caravan 😉

A bike is an excellent way to stay fit. Maybe it would limit your RV park choices, depending on how far the grocery store is from where you’ll be staying. Alternatively, get an electric bike! While you are at it, get a baby carrier that tows behind your bike. My wife and I have one and we use it for groceries, picnics and so on.

The answer to this depends on so many things including personal preference along with questions like, ‘how fit are you to begin with’, ‘are you already used to riding your bike for errands’, ‘are you willing to ride in all weather conditions of the area’…

Also, a question to you would be if you’re travelling regularly or parking for longer terms. If you’re travelling regularly, it shouldn’t be a big deal to hit the grocery store coming in or leaving town. If you’re staying for longer terms, towing a car wouldn’t be a big deal.

Ah, yes…Pippi is right. Doing all my errands by bike isn’t for me. I tow a car as well. My wife and I like to cycle, so we do as much of that as possible while camping. I don’t think I’d like to depend totally on a bike to get around…
