Just shouting out to any and all reading this forum. 33 yrs Male, got my first motorhome when I turned 18. It was a 1969 Banner Class A motorhome on a dodge chassis. 2002 was the year and what fun to drive around, 26 feet. Drove it to college on occasion and to gatherings at friends houses, what a blast! I accuired a 1971 Shasta Travel Trailer before that and was living in that in my parent’s back yard, oh what fun days. Since then I have accuired a 1974 Dodge Sportsman Class C which has steadily been rusting/rotting awa :(, two Winnebagos 1968 and 1971 Class A, a 30′ Terry Travel Trailer, a 1967 Cree 17′ trailer, and a skyline 1970’s Pickup Camper, oh and more recently a Class C “American” 1988 motorcoach. PROJECTS! they follow me around, I have a airstream style (Avion) 34.5′ trailer in upstate New York in storage. That I paid a pretty penny for however some of these were donated to me from people who didn’t have time tow work on them. So ya, I’ve been living in campers since 2002 and have so many projects I don’t know where to startmy most recent project burnt to the ground about a year ago grrr- That’s life pick up and move on..!
January 4, 2017 at 8:38 am #2141PippiKeymasterWow, that sounds like a lot of fun having all those rigs to work on! Where do you keep them though? I’d love to have more RVs to work on but no where to keep them.
Thanks for sharing and happy trails!January 4, 2017 at 12:10 pm #2148Judson SimonParticipantIt is FUN but also at the same time Overwhelming! My father passed away in 2004 and he had 60 acres that is family owned so they are all happily sitting on my little corner of that- in a coastal town of North Carolina. I have been watching your videos for over 2 years and I must say you have motivated me to do a lot! After I get my next tow rig set up (swapping out rear differentials in an old diesel Mercedes) I’ll be updating appliances in the 1967 Cree Trailer and hopefully starting solar panels based on your tutorial! Thank you for reading!
January 9, 2017 at 8:57 am #2157PippiKeymasterSorry to hear about your father.
Awesome, do you plan to do anything with them once they’re fixed up? I just read someone else’s intro that rents them out to film production and entertainment crews. It’s not a bad idea even if it’d just be passive and super part time.April 4, 2017 at 7:35 am #2385Judson SimonParticipantThat is a wild idea, renting to film folk. I am not too far from Wilmington (NC) film studios… I just make sure the roof stays good on them for the time being. I originally wanted to open up a campground with my former but alas, things change. I have a spare moments and spring is here so time to get busy on something camper related : ) I found your PO box addy so wrote some real fan mail, I apologise though because I realize now some of it is redundant. Scan it and throw it out: ) my theory for keeping low on paperwork in a RV lifestyle : )
April 7, 2017 at 12:48 pm #2387PippiKeymasterCool, I can’t wait to get it!! Well you dodged a bullet as far as I’ve heard with opening a campground. I’ve heard from some who do, one of which said if you’r thinking of buying a campground, get yourself a gun and shoot yourself in the head. Lol. So not everyone’s cup of tea. I’ve had the same idea too at some points.
Looking forward to your mail, even if it is redundant ;D
April 8, 2017 at 4:56 pm #2406Judson SimonParticipantThanks to know I’m not the only one who wanted to and did not. I do work 1/4 time at a park in Niagara county, NY. The manager and owner are pretty good friends of mine. The owner tells me one has to have their whole heart and life into it and the manager (a relation to the owner) says it is excrutionatly tough. (Reference to your previous conceit says enough -lol) ya, anyways… If ya ever get the wild hair to head east let me know. I may be able to host a short term stay on the crystal coast or jersey shore. Take care and happy trails and travels!! : )
