Hoping this helps someone with their Norcold 1200lrim
refrigerator.
I have a 4 door Norcold 1200lrim refrigerator in my RV and one day it worked and the next it did not.
The power just went out. The whole thing shut down.
When I looked at the back of the fridge through the outside access panel, I noticed a small red light lit up, on the small (square) black recall box. (These refrigerators were recalled and this little square black recall box installed, from what I hear.) I found out, after much research, about 3 days worth, that when water is involved, there’s a switch inside this box that will trip up or switch off causing the fridge to power down and the red light to come on.
You see my husband was washing the RV with the power washer one day and right after that, the fridge stopped working.
All that needs to be done is to go outside and remove the outside access panel. Then take the front cover off of the little black box with the red light lit up, & on the inside you’ll see a circuit board. At the top of the circuit board you’ll see a small skinny black line, it’s almost an inch long and really thin, less than an 1/8 thick. Just take a magnet, a fairly strong magnet, like a mechanics magnet and hold it over the black line, for a few seconds, maybe about 5 seconds. You’ll hear a clicking sound and the red light will go out
miraculously!
Go back inside the RV and turn the fridge back on and wa-la, you’ll have power to your fridge! It was an easy fix but took us nearly 3 days! I hope someone finds this post helpful and before 3 days of research!December 15, 2017 at 8:40 am #2674PippiKeymasterJanie, that is great advice and insight. Thank you for sharing! How the heck did you figure that out?
Have you had any problems since then?
