I’m working on a friend’s 1983 Winnebago about 65,000 miles. It keeps over heating on the road and he has taken it to every mechanic in the phone book.
I removed the radiator and thermostat and flushed the engine block and got some trash, but nothing out of the normal. Sent the radiator to a radiator shop and had it reconditioned. I replaced the water pump because it was down far enough to be easily replaced. I replaced the thermostat and temperature sensor. Put everything back together and the engine still runs hot on the highway.
I checked the engine timing because I know some engines will run hot if they are late on the timing and the timing is right on.
Does anyone have any ideas?? Only thing I can come up with is possibly a partially stopped up catalytic converter/exhaust system, but the engine doesn’t appear to struggle going down the highway.
