Hi all, just watched all of the YouTube Videos (Thank You Pippi!) and no I found this great online blog and forum. I am feeling so much less scared of the 1984 AlumaLite XL 28′ monster I found and scored for pennies.

I’m in the feeling out period with it now trying to learn about every system and the first bug I’ve found is that when I fill the potable tank and turn on the pump to test water is coming out of the potable water connection. Is that little spring loaded valve that is supposed to only allow water to flow IN just worn out/broken? It seems to move freely when I push in on it with a finger.

I’ve been thinking of trying to find some sort of cap to test my theory. Anyone have any experience with fixing or replacing these fixtures?

Looking forward to sharing my experiences and benefitting from the knowledge of the people already here.

When you say the potable water connection are you referring to where you fill it up from outside?

When you turn on the pump it pressurizes everything, which is a great way to test for leaks and it sounds like you’ve got one! Nothing should be leaking. You can also know pressure is being released somewhere in the system if the pump keeps turning on without having used any water. But hey, good news is your pump works! 😀

If it’s just a cap, google it or go to a place like Camping World to search for a replacement. If it’s just the cap it should like an easy fix.

Best of luck with your new score! Sounds like a great work in progress 😀
