    Hello from Florida!
I will be living full time in a 5th wheel in Florida by the middle of next year. The RV will be in a permanent spot for quite a while, so no worries with movement.
I would love any suggestions, ideas, etc… On what type of blinds, curtains, or window treatments in general, i should put in, mainly to keep RV cooler and possibly decorative at the same time without spending an arm and leg.
    Thank you for your replies.

Full-time RV living in Florida?! Make sure your air contitioners are in A1 condition.

You’ll need blinds. Forget curtains; you need something to keep the sun from broiling the interior of your RV…

Last bit of advice: try to find a spot in the Keys. It will be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Roger, Thanks for the advice. I will actually be living in North Florida, where it is super hot in the Summer, and it can get darn cold in the Winter. I am looking into solar blinds, even if I have to buy them 2 or 3 at a time due to expense.Once again thanks….I do love the Keys.

OK Roselyd…back when I was young, poor and good looking, my wife and I decided to drive our old Honda Civic down to Florida for a nice summer vacation. Our car had no A/C…

By the time we got to North Carolina, we were going down the Interstate with all our Windows down. It was hot, but we managed. When we hit Georgia, the windows were down and the vent was on High and we were boiling in the car. As we crossed into Florida, I knew for sure what Hell was like.

We didn’t have much money but we rented a car with A/C and salvaged our vacation.

Good luck on your new home!

Hi Roselyd, definitely, definitely, definitely get reflectix type material to cover your windows. No curtain is going to compare. Please check out this video for a demo. If you get a huge roll of the stuff you can line your cabinets, any walls if you don’t care about the silver look and even your roof. All of this will make a huge difference.

I would stay away from mini blinds if they’re metal. Though the wood ones would be nice and an extra protection from heat. I had ‘black-out’ curtains from IKEA, that hardly blacked anything out but they supposedly help with thermal protection, too. I have those in my living room area and are easy to open and close. The original curtains were heavy and dark colored. Good for blocking light and heat but they were chewed through and demolished by the mice that owned the RV before me 😉

I did keep those curtains in the bedroom though because it’s nice to be able to completely block light sometimes while sleeping. However the reflectix is even better at that.

I’m going to try to mice your wall question to a more appropriate section of the forum where you might get more answers than hidden in this thread. I’ll also add my two cents there.

Here’s another thing I did for some extra insulation:
