I am a Heart Transplant person and that is why i will come back here to see my doctors for appointments. I bought a 5th wheel and i want to go full time and i was wondering if you have ever spent a winter here in Oklahoma and is it doable to winter in a 5th wheel? I know to do skirting and water hose with heat tape would help and my water lines are in camper not in floor. and to do a good electric heater they say are the best. I have watched all your videos and i am sure you would know about all this. ????? Please help Thank you

Summer Fun is what most RV’s are designed for. With that said there are winter models out there somewhere. My plan is to redo all the plumbing in my 5th wheel to handle the cold weather. I am starting on it this summer. I will pull all the copper pipe out and replace all lines with pex and heat tapes. so you have options when the “Big Freeze” happens. I bought a house once cheap and did not need to heat that monster so set up just a bedroom and bathroom that was heated. Some houses this can be done with and some situations no…Depends on condensation levels in the house and type of roof and other factors if it has a basement and so on.
I was watching a canadian couple on youtube living in their van and they were dealing with condensation because they had on of those fiberglass tops on the van and it was not insulated so condensation was forming making their bed wet and they were totally miserable. Just some things to think about!

I have been toying with the idea of putting home insulation in the underbelly cavities as well as skirting to keep the heat in during those cold winter days/nights. Another idea I have been toying with is also getting a couple of the ceramic radiator heaters to put underneath the RV and hopefully use that to not only help keep the pipes from freezing in my 5th wheel but also to keep some heat in the RV being heat rises. The skirt would be on as well so that would help to trap the heat underneath but also provide the ability for some of the heat to vent as well. Am hoping this alternative will work in place of using the propane all the time for heat. Pippi has some great ideas that I am contemplating as well for both the winter and summer months. One last thing that I am going to attempt as well is going to the home improvement stores and asking for carpet samples (Usually is a nice size cut not just the little squares) and work to see if can get the same sample at several different places to put on the floor as well for those cold mornings. Is the cheap (free is always good) solution for the time being and hey if it looks good and can get all the same brand and fabric is even better. Hopefully my thoughts and ideas will give you some ideas as well.
