@coating Thanks for sharing! That was a dilemma I had, too, the heat! It’s hard to think about off gridding when it gets to 110+ for at least a month of the year! Congrats on your purchase and new life. Best of luck to you both!
@JimP Good job on getting that done! I feel I’ve skirted around doing something like that for years. Thank you fr sharing!
@Kjoyner That definitely is rural! I’m glad you got it all sorted for yourself though. π@Mike and Sabine I was also looking in Pima County since I spent so many years in Tucson. I just love the area. How do you guys do with the summer heat? Do you rely on the generator for that exclusively? Does the rig get hotter than a house? Sounds like you guys have some great projects going. Fun!
I hear ya @Phantomrider sometimes it’s all about the semantics! Best of luck and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterStay tuned for this Thursdayβs video giving all the info on it and how to buy it…
PippiKeymasterI love the counter top! Great job on the kayak rack. Yes, I will be attempting some great sightseeing of fireflies this coming spring and summer.
December 20, 2017 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Hello all! New here and to full time RV living Tampa, FL #2730PippiKeymasterWelcome DJ, these are all good questions and five months is a great amount of time to begin because it could take a few months to actually make your purchase.
As for trailer vs RV, check out this thread which may be the most popular thread and question people ask:
https://www.pippenings.com/rv-living/rv-motorhome-life-forum/topic/i-cant-decide-what-to-buy/If you are going to be parked mostly, I’d strongly suggest a trailer as you wont need to maintain the engine. Next consider the weight of it if you already have a truck. It’d be nice to be able to move it with what you already have.
And unless you have an itch to renovate and take on a lot of projects, I’d suggest skipping the renovations and try to get a turnkey one.
Also, call ahead to the parks in your area. Do they rent to people under 55 years of age? Do they allow monthly renters? How much do they cost a month? You may find $500 for an apartment may be cheaper than an RV community park. Do they allow rigs older than 1998? Just do your homework and don’t make assumptions.
Best of luck and enjoy the site!
PippiKeymasterThank you Jeff, this is a great list. Which one did you end up getting and how have you liked it?
PippiKeymasterSorry this is a little late. The batteries I have are Crown Batteries. Click the link to read about the CRP525s that I have.
PippiKeymasterAh shoot, I may be back that way. Can you give me the name of the town, please?
PippiKeymasterWhat’s the name of your screen print shop?
PippiKeymasterKenny, did you get your RV yet?
Yes, you’ll be fine not just to live in your RV but also travel far and wide.
Keep in touch.
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterDwight, what did you decide on your tires? Truck tires are just as good. Some sensitive people may say they ride a little rougher but what you need to know is to NEVER buy re-treads.
It cost me a couple grand to put new tires on my rig this summer and I shopped around for a good deal on quality tires.PippiKeymasterHi Dale, how are those projects coming along? Guess what, I saw fireflies in Minnesota this year. Only three, so they’re still on my bucket list!
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterWow, an RV that converts into a house boat. Not sure that’s up my alley. Too much to risk it not working once in the water, yikes!
PippiKeymasterI know exactly where that is. There are many of those older style MH parks in the area. I stayed at one just a few blocks down called Maverick which I don’t recommend.
Good luck on your stay there, I’m missing the area just thinking about it but excited to be out and about still.
If you haven’t yet, head up one block east to Ellsworth then take that north for great sunset opps and maybe even some wild horses!
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterDiamond and crystal caves?! I’ll have to put it on my to dos for my proper Arkansas tour!
Sorry to hear about all those flats, yikes!
PippiKeymasterHi Karen, I regret not seeing this earlier. Is the dairy farm still in production?
I’d love to have stopped by when I came through Nashville a couple months ago. Perhaps another time.
Kind regards
PippiKeymasterHi Adrian, how has the journey been so far? Have you found $2000 to be good enough to get by?
Costs completely depend on the distances you travel, which parks you stay at and if you eat out or not, costs for sightseeing…
What type of four-legged friend did you two get?
PippiKeymasterHow is it off grid there in the winter? It definitely gets cold there. Are you in a shipping container or Wildcat, I didn’t totally understand.
That sounds pretty cool what you’re doing and that video of yours I just watched, you kept going all the ways I would not have gone!
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterHi Harry, any chance you started you RV build yet? How’s that going?
PippiKeymasterGreat input Scott! It is expensive being on the road and there’s a lot of maintenance required.
Are you planning on any other long trips?
PippiKeymasterBridgette, I’m so happy to read this great story of yours. Sorry the response is so delayed. We seem to be kindered spirits with that one-year-itch-itis, travel experience… Wait til you get an RV, it will progress to a one-month-itsh-itis.
Please keep me updated with everything. I wish the best for you guys!
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterDid you ever find what the problem was SCJax?
PippiKeymasterThank you, Jim. Best of luck with your daughter!
PippiKeymasterHey Neal, that sounds like it would be a fun video. I will keep it in mind if I go back up that way again! π Thanks
PippiKeymasterHi Donnie, did you ever find your RV? Will you be hitting the road or hanging out a bit?
By the way, my Bounder is a 1992
PippiKeymasterHi Cessar, I did this video a few years ago but plan on doing a more recent video about funding this lifestyle.
December 15, 2017 at 8:44 am in reply to: Newbie Eclipse Attitude Owner from Oregon, Electrician #2677PippiKeymasterHey Shifty, how are you liking your solar panels? Any recent trips out lately?
December 15, 2017 at 8:40 am in reply to: Norcold 1200lrim Series, Lost Power: Here’s How To Fix #2674PippiKeymasterJanie, that is great advice and insight. Thank you for sharing! How the heck did you figure that out?
Have you had any problems since then?
PippiKeymasterHi David, how is your tiny house coming along?
PippiKeymasterRon, I’m so sorry to hear about you losing your wife.
Did you ever find your RV? What brand did you chose and how are you liking it?
PippiKeymasterTy, where did you end up staying and how do you like it? At 51 you could probably slide into the 55+ parks. Some will even go down to 45+ especially if they have a connection in there already.
There are so many to chose from. East Mesa was my old stomping grounds.

PippiKeymasterNot all RVs are mostly wood and fiberglass. Many are aluminum and you can still find some older ones that are steel.
However, if this makes a difference with lightening, I don’t know.
Have you found anything new since posting this?
PippiKeymasterHow are you liking your new RV? Did you get solar panels?
December 14, 2017 at 3:51 pm in reply to: Awning Tents Safe with Propane and CO Vents on RV Side? #2662PippiKeymasterHi Michael, I appreciate your concern. I will reach out to them for you and see if they can respond.
PippiKeymasterRod, I hope you get your RV some day too and appreciate all your participation in the video comments and other platforms. π
PippiKeymasterOK, thinking a little more about your problem, I’m wondering why you’re using your steps so much and I wonder if you know you can turn them on and off so when you’re parked, you open the door to let them out, then turn them off and they will stay out for you until you’re ready to go again. I hope that may help you. It will draw less of a load too on whatever battery it is using.
PippiKeymasterHey Marko, it’s always a good idea to run your engine at least every couple of weeks if not every week to maintain that engine battery. If your automotive battery is dying only over a few days time, then you may want to look into a new engine battery.
Now to your question.
Many RVs have a switch that will disconnect the engine battery as well as the house batteries. You may try to find this and turn off your engine battery to keep small loads from draining it faster. The same is true for your house batts if your are plugged into shore anyway.
It’s hard to say without reading the manual myself as well, but I suspect your steps are on the engine battery, mine are. As for the radio in aux I’m not certain. I doubt a mis-wire. I know for example, my steps have an on/off switch near them and also on the dash. I’ve tried all combinations to understand them and there’s always a misunderstanding and I think when the engine is on, it voids any of the patterns I’ve thought I’ve found in them.
It is possible too, that you have your house batteries disconnected with the disconnect switch so these other items are drawing from the engine battery instead.
PippiKeymasterHi Ed, welcome to the community!
To address your question about whether the 30A and 20A breakers mean you could get 50A service the answer is no but a not desirable yes.
To describe the no:
What most people don’t know is that 30A service is what’s called single phase, it’s one stream of 30A. 50A is actually dual phase, so you could think of 50A service being like 70A of more service than a 30A system. When I say yes, though it does mean that if you plug into a 30A receptacle you will get 30A and then plug a standard AZ outlet into the 20A you will get 50A of service but its not a traditional 50A service. Also the 20A extension cord will not be wired into your system so it would be like it’s own system that you’d independently plug appliances into.
I hope that helps!
December 14, 2017 at 3:08 pm in reply to: You really need to head to Alaska, BC and Yukon Canada #2653PippiKeymasterWow, that sounds incredible! I’ll definitely keep it in mind if I migrate that direction.
It would be so cool to visit a gold mine and see bears!!! π
PippiKeymasterWow, that’s so courageous of you to make that decision and I bet you will never regret it no matter what you decide. I’m sorry to hear about your husband. I can only imagine it’s almost as hard as it gets, especially with kids.
Best of luck on your local trial. I hope you find what works best for your family!
PippiKeymasterHi Dennis, back in the day, 1990’s Fleetwood Bounders were the top dog for innovation and leading the way in trends. It’s an entirely new company nowadays and not comparable.
Some of the benefits of the older Bounder are that they are steel bodied. That makes them a bit heavier compared to today’s options but they are sturdy and strong and you can ground electrical to them π
My rubber roof is still the original, however, it could really use a new membrane though it does not leak even at almost 26 years old. All the appliances are still working, then Chevy 454 engine is doing ok but could use a tune up after traveling constantly for the last six months and my tranny has been doing great towing the maximum allowed weight.
If you know engines and can troubleshoot that on your own, the RV its self is great.
PippiKeymasterGood luck with your truck and camper. That’s a nice compact option. I’d definitely need more space but it’s convenient for camping almost anywhere. Ace must be small??
Hugs to Ace!
Best of luck and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterThanks for watching Timmy!
PippiKeymasterHave you tried RVtrader.com? You can do a nationwide search or just by proximity. Best of luck!
PippiKeymasterHey Jim, you’re a dreamer, I can tell! π Welcome to the community!
PippiKeymasterWhat a great plan, Freddie! I wish you the best of luck.
Regarding displaying photos here, you’ll need to upload your photos through a different server, like on Photobucket, Flickr, Google Photos… those sites will then give each of your images a specific link which then you can use the link to display them here.
Happy trails, can’t wait to see the pics!
PippiKeymasterOh wow, there’s something else interesting in Chicago I had in mind. This will also hit the list likely if I get there. Thank you for sharing and the invitation. Happy trials
PippiKeymasterHi Dave, I tore out half of my dinette so I only have one bench remaining. It gave me so much more space. I’ve also seen someone who put their computer set up on one of the seats and put a platform over it to set their monitor on, which left them the entire table for eating and such with the computer pushed back a bit. Did you make any changes yet or decisions?
PippiKeymasterThanks for the wonderful suggestions!
PippiKeymasterThanks for the great tips, Bruce!
PippiKeymasterThe flooring is a great place to start on your renovations. Also adjusting/removing/adding furniture would be a next so you have your preferred floor layout. Best of luck with that. How exciting!
PippiKeymasterhi William, you can google dog parks to find local off leash areas.
The only time I have gotten a health certificate was when I moved to Germany with Andiamo. He got a German health passport there but that’s about all I’ve ever done for that. I know you’re supposed to register them and all that but I stopped that about 15 years ago. Just never found it necessary.
Also, I’ve never had a regular vet. I’ve been to so many different ones. Just make sure to get records of what your pet has done so you can bring them with you.
Best of luck with it and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterThese are fantastic suggestions! Thank you π
PippiKeymasterOh wow, this sounds so cool! I’m coordinating plans now and wont have too much worked out too far in advance. I’d love to stop by sometime. It may not be til early fall if your in Arkansas but what a cool renovation to look at. I have your email and will keep in touch if I make it your way.
Great going on such a cool project!
Pippi PetersonPippiKeymasterTrina, you’re so welcome and I’m so happy to hear you’re coming to some cool new possibilities and independence from it! Good luck and happy trails! π
PippiKeymasterThank you so much Jonathan. I’ll definitely check it out!
PippiKeymasterGood luck getting back on the road. Happy and safe trails! π

PippiKeymasterWow, sorry to hear that but fortunate you weren’t driving like you said. Best of luck with your travels and getting out there!
PippiKeymasterThanks for sharing, Dan. I have some notions to head to CO so I’m glad you brought this up.
Cheers and thanks for tuning into my videos!
PippiKeymasterI had no idea southern AZ had wineries. I’ll keep it in mind. Thank you for sharing and for watching my videos. I’m so happy to hear that they’ve helped you! π
Happy trails
PippiKeymasterThat’s pretty cool. I’ll keep it in mind if I’m out that way. Thank you for sharing!
PippiKeymasterI haven’t noticed a difference with my vinyl but its pretty thick. Great idea to replace the carpet. Good luck with everything!
PippiKeymasterBest of luck Andrew, I think used is a great choice. Great tip on starting in the driveway as a test run, Tom. Glad you guys are doing well.
PippiKeymasterThank you Anh, I’ll keep it in mind if the need ever arises π
PippiKeymasterHi aweaton, yes, I did a full installation of panels on my curved roof in this video with lots of tips:
PippiKeymasterWelcome Jeff, congrats on your new lifestyle!
PippiKeymasterI’m not sure what a heat pump is but it is absolutely practical for the others. Keep in mind going solar will not immediately be cost-effective but it will immediately be independence-effective. Never expect to rely on solar for AC units or electrical heaters or anything that runs for hours with a heating device, like a water distiller. Also, the more you can know about your solar set up, I believe will save you in money instead of relying on someone else to tell you everything.
PippiKeymasterCool, I can’t wait to get it!! Well you dodged a bullet as far as I’ve heard with opening a campground. I’ve heard from some who do, one of which said if you’r thinking of buying a campground, get yourself a gun and shoot yourself in the head. Lol. So not everyone’s cup of tea. I’ve had the same idea too at some points.
Looking forward to your mail, even if it is redundant ;D
PippiKeymasterI think it’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed when in the midst of these sorts of projects but you’ve got the right idea to just take one step at a time. The next, then the next, then the next and miraculously, it all comes together and begins to look manageable again! I’ve really enjoyed seeing your reno pics!! Great job and congrats on the new pilot job!
PippiKeymasterHi Alec, I really enjoyed reading your story and seeing the pics of your renovations. It’s so tough when you’re in the midst but so satisfying to see the changes happen!
I hope you keep posting the pics and can’t wait to see it fully finished! It’s great you’ve got a nice indoor place to work on it, especially in Oregon or the rain would wash it all away.
Best of luck and thanks for sharing!
PippiKeymasterIf you’re hoping to trade it in later, it sounds that this may not be a long term plan for you. If it’s not a long term plan, then I don’t recommend spending the time and money building your own. I would also only recommend building your own if that project sounds exhilarating to you.
It sounds like your adjustments are for your cats and they wouldn’t need to be permanent changes. Or maybe you find someone with cats to buy it after you.
Also your desired tank sizes are about 2-4 times the normal sizes. If you built your own, you could do it. But to stay off grid long enough to create 80 gallons of black waste, you’ll have ran your batteries and generator gas dry unless you’re planning on solar. Also, to need a black tank so big, your RV is going to reek to high heavens, unless you’ll be in freezing temps. Keep in mind the weight of 200 gallons of water too and how that’ll impact your vehicle.
Best of luck with your endeavors, Jeff. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do what you want.
PippiKeymasterHey Ken, sorry to hear they outlawed your work! That’s too bad. Thanks for sharing and I wish you good luck in your RV and Charlotte!
I did a video on tires, not about specific brands but about being over/under inflated and what you carry in the bins around them. I hope you enjoy it π
PippiKeymasterMake sure the full link is correct. But aside from seeing it, that’s a great idea to build a stove in/out of an old tank. Good luck with it!
PippiKeymasterHi Jack, thanks for asking a great question. I don’t know much about compost toilets but what I do know is that it’s not for me. I’ve seen some of these toilets, I know there are different types but the ones I’m familiar with is that you have a bucket that fills up with pee that you see visibly from the front of the toilet. And the rest needs to be carried out in a bag.
I’ve heard of the type that burns it and there’s probably other types. My personal preference is to be able to use water and wash everything away instead of hauling and viewing the bucket fill up. Ew gross! Visual and scent gross.
As far as having an incinerator in an RV, that sounds a little scary to me.
But remember, I’m no expert and that’s just an opinion.
PippiKeymasterHi Bob, I don’t have slides so I can only speak from logical thinking.
The idea about not deploying the slides before leveling is most likely because of the body of the RV being tweaked so that slides’ tracks might be interfered with from the torsion.
The same thing goes with the door. If you are parked in a not very level area, you’ll notice your door may feel tighter or stickier when opening it.
If the ground is not level, it would probably be a good idea to level your RV before deploying slides. I would also tend to think that always deploying slides after the jacks is better because the slides would be encased for the possible extra-torsion that leveling would cause. That way you know that whatever path the slides slid out on is the same they’ll come back on.
Deploying slides before the jacks might mean they slide out on tracks slightly skewed one way and then retract on a different skewed angle. This may or may not cause some damage down the road with the extra wear. Not just on the tracks and rollers, but on seams and edges.
PippiKeymasterHi Gary, what you want to put in is a great upgrade from what you currently have. Are you wanting to fulltime with this set up though? You may want to add two more 6V batteries to that mix if you are living in your RV long term. The 220AH set up is probably standard for RVs now and intended for short off grid stays but certainly valuable.
When you say, can you use the same stock controller, do you mean charge controller? You can stick with the same charge controller since it only depends on what’s coming to it from the other end, which would be the solar panels. If those changed, you may need to swap out controllers.
Keep in mind, you may need to upgrade to bigger cables between your batteries and inverter now that you’re supplying more amps.
I hope this answers your question.
PippiKeymasterWow, sounds like a great life, cruise ships and beach vacations. Thanks so much for sharing and welcome to the community!
Pippi Peterson
PippiKeymasterHi Steve, I’ve used LED light bars from IKEA that had the peel and stick application and they’re very strong. The ones from IKEA can be changed to fade from color to color, or stay at one color or just be white. Before you buy those, check around for other, possibly cooler options.
Good luck with that!
PippiKeymasterHi Bob, welcome to the community! If you stay at an RV park you can often use their address for mailing and many will give you your own box number. Another idea is to use a PO box. They’re pretty cheap, less than $10 a month. With the PO boxes, you can sign up for a service where they will mail you your mail to another post office if you are out of the area.
I hope this helps you with your mailing needs.
Take care and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterNo, I haven’t addressed my really bad 50A cable yet…….. I’m hoping to go fully solar with no plug though.. But I’d still like to replace that.
πPippiKeymasterThanks for stopping in and saying hi David, welcome to the community! π
PippiKeymasterGreat tips Steve. My uncle made a studio from a semi truck trailer and he also mentioned getting the refrigerated ones for the better insulation. That would have been a fun idea to cut the front off of an RV and install a sliding glass door.
PippiKeymasterHi Steve, sounds like a lot of fun building those tiny houses! I hope you found what you needed about the solar panels. Thanks for joining the community and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterWelcome to the community Greg! I hear you on slide-outs. That little extra space makes a HUGE difference. The bottom pass through storage is also really nice.
Why the heck did it take four months for the shower surround to arrive? Well good luck on that. That’ll be really nice to get a fresh shower area. I’ve got plans to re-do my bathroom too, but probably not the shower and tub.
Thanks for joining and sharing your story!
Pippi Peterson
PippiKeymasterWell, regardless of why they neglected it, sounds like you’re lucky to have it. They must have been expensive for some reason, hopefully because of quality.
I personally like being able to fix things up so to me it sounds pretty exciting what you’ve got your hands in right now.
Best of luck with your restorations and happy trails!
PippiKeymasterCongratulations Miranda on your new purchase! How exciting and best of luck with school!
Pippi Peterson
PippiKeymasterGood for you Bonnie for getting out there and not letting that stand in your way. There’s a lot of journeys to be had in any situation. Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterIt’s certainly a way to maintain a lot of freedoms and adventure. Best of luck when you decide to move back and welcome to the community!
Pippi Peterson
PippiKeymasterCongrats Cindy on your new adventure!! I’m sure you will be able to do everything you encounter. I didn’t know hardly anything when I started out so don’t fret π
Good for you for gaining your independence and how fun to have so many new projects to work on inside!
Is ’83 considered vintage now?!
Happy trails!!
Pippi PetersonPippiKeymasterHi Jeff, as far as recalls, you may want to find the trailer you like and then resdearch it on Google specifically. Also, some products inside the trailers may have recalls. I’ve heard several Dometic fridges have had recalls for example. If you build it yourself though, you can easily search every product you get to find the best.
It sounds like you like some trailers but they don’t have everything you want. What are some of those harder to find aspects you’re looking for?
PippiKeymasterWow, what a great background! A little of this and that for sure! Sorry to hear about your feet. Welcome to the community Jeff! π
PippiKeymasterI’ve spent 8 hours on a layover in Chicago. I’m not a fan of big cities. But if I’m ever there and you’ve got something in the works, we should do a video!
PippiKeymasterHi Kathy, this is a great question. There’s a cheap tool called an eraser wheel that is meant to removed baked on decals. There’s another tool that professionals use and takes less time that you can also purchase called the MBX but it costs about $500.
Once you’ve removed the decals you have a choice to either reapply new decals or paint some stripes on. It costs more money to paint them on. An average price to add new decals can cost about $1,000-$2,500 whereas painting them on can cost $5,000 to $10,000 depending on how many stripes and colors…
If you live in Arizona, I highly recommend Prestige Mobile Autobody (PMA). They are personal friends of mine specializing in RV and auto body repair and always do free estimates. You can contact them at 480-584-7933 or pma2u@yahoo.com .
Good luck with your decals! π

PippiKeymasterThere definitely are tankless gas water heaters. You would have to find one that can switch between the two though that’d work with your RV.
I’d love to have a tankless one. Hot water on demand is a pretty nice luxury π It’s something I intend to look at at some point in the future.
PippiKeymasterI have only stayed at parks that have the age restriction and I always get in. I think it’s more of a way for the managers or owners to have a look at the people coming in. A lot of parks need to make big efforts to keep out “trailer trash” which comes with drugs and shady business often and makes the park look unpleasing, therefore affecting their business and traffic flow.
But if you’re an upworthy and respectful community member that wants to provide them some monthly income and follow their rules, then those age restrictions are often less of an ordeal.
Don’t be scared off from a park that states a rig age restriction on their website or premises. Just call in and ask. This is true for 55+ parks as well. A lot of people don’t know 55+ parks can allow up for 20% of people under 55.
Best of luck!
PippiKeymasterThere are two types of slide outs. One is hydraulic and the other is mechanical. If you have a hydraulic system, you may need to add in more hydraulic fluid. A lack of fluid would cause the slide out to only be held open/out as much as the amount that the fluid can fill the fluid chamber. If there’s not enough fluid in the system, then the slide out will not be forced or held out as far as it could be. So check the fluid level if you have a hydraulic system.
The mechanical kind has little pinions that click into tracks that roll outward as it pushes the slide out. If you have a mechanical one, you may be pushing the slide out to a small distance between the pinion’s nubs and it rolls back to click into a closer notch on the track. If this is the case, perhaps just push a little farther to get the next notch.
PippiKeymasterSorry to hear about your father.
Awesome, do you plan to do anything with them once they’re fixed up? I just read someone else’s intro that rents them out to film production and entertainment crews. It’s not a bad idea even if it’d just be passive and super part time.PippiKeymasterHow fricken exciting! Are the RVs you supply used as props in the movies or rented for travel..? Can we see any of these rigs in movies that are already out?
Are you working with any movies in production right now?
You know what would be a cool video…a video about your biz, some tours of the fleet and shots of behind the scenes stuff!
Thanks for sharing and introducing yourself and cool business.
Pippi Peterson
PippiKeymasterHi Steven, thanks so much for tuning in and I’m happy to hear you have gained something from my channel. Best of luck to you, happy trails!
PippiKeymasterHi Joseph, welcome to the community! Best of luck with your travel plans this year!
PippiKeymasterThanks for sharing and welcome to the community. Happy trails to you and Puppy π
PippiKeymasterNice to meet you Mark. RV tech school sounds like something that I’d be interested in too. Good luck with that. Not bad to HAVE to go to Florida π
PippiKeymasterThanks for sharing. Welcome to the community Marilyn and Randy!
PippiKeymasterWow, that sounds like a lot of fun having all those rigs to work on! Where do you keep them though? I’d love to have more RVs to work on but no where to keep them.
Thanks for sharing and happy trails!PippiKeymasterI hear you. The codes and restrictions are not made for maximum freedom on our part. Thanks for joining the community and good luck with everything! π
PippiKeymasterWelcome to the community Stevanus π
PippiKeymasterI don’t have any recommendations but I’d encourage you to go with a brand that has been making batteries, if not specifically LI batteries for a long time. They’re pretty new and have had some fails, like burning up.
PippiKeymasterHi James, happy new year! What sort of general topics did you want to discuss? There are a wide range of topics and threads on here. The forum is intended for RV discussions, questions and answers. I’ve added an “Introduce Yourself” section where you might want to write about your interest.
Happy trails!
PippiKeymasterI’ve been in the midst of this for the last several days. It’s now working. π
PippiKeymasterAwesome, sounds like a fun project and adventure. Best of luck with it all, Alec π
PippiKeymasterI’ve spent most of my life not having a washer and dryer in the place I live. I’ve almost always had to use laundromats. They do make a washer/dryer combo that is compact that can be used or installed in RVs.
I don’t find that my clothes smell like food after cooking.Like Jon said, there are roof vents and windows. My RV also has a hood vent above the stove.
In the US I’ve only found that it’s cheaper to live in an RV. Many people park in one park or location and commute to work just as if they lived in a house or apartment. Many people including myself also have a separate vehicle for regular errands and transportation. So it’s also the same as if you lived in a house or apartment.
As for finding a partner, maybe you need to assess again why you want to live in an RV. If it’s for the adventure, then there’s someone out there that might want that too. If it’s to save money, then you’ve got more to spend with your partner because it’s cheaper to live in one.
Best of luck with your decisions!
PippiKeymasterHi Mikael, most folks on this site are located in the US. Did you find an RV to rent? Are you planning to rent an RV to live in full time, like an apartment?
I’d love to hear what you found out about renting in Europe.
Best of luck and happy trails!

When you turn on the pump it pressurizes everything, which is a great way to test for leaks and it sounds like you’ve got one! Nothing should be leaking. You can also know pressure is being released somewhere in the system if the pump keeps turning on without having used any water. But hey, good news is your pump works! π
If it’s just a cap, google it or go to a place like Camping World to search for a replacement. If it’s just the cap it should like an easy fix.
Best of luck with your new score! Sounds like a great work in progress π
PippiKeymasterHi Otacon, check out this topic thread about all that. Best of luck with it: https://www.pippenings.com/rv-living/rv-motorhome-life-forum/topic/internet-on-the-road/

PippiKeymasterDavid, don’t worry about older RVs. The newer ones also have maintenance issues. They’ve also never ridden down roads and had all the screws vibrate into or out of place yet. I love my older used RV. Just make sure you do a full inspection before buying. Spend time thinking it over and comparing.
Best of luck getting you guys all back on the road again! Happy trails π
PippiKeymasterFeeling way over your head is the best part because it’s so satisfying to work your way out of that π
Just take it step by step. If it’s totally gutted and you’re not changing and wiring or plumbing, get the walls painted then do the floors. I bet you’ll start feeling better after that. Then step by step. You never attached the pics. I’d love to see the current state of it.
Best of luck with the project!
PippiKeymasterHi Mimi, sounds like a great adventure and plan! I really don’t have any brand suggestions. Just make sure you look at each of them so you find the features you like and decide you want. Some have four season features which are a little more insulated, some don’t. Others have newer styles windows. Just do your research and definitely go see everything in person. Best of luck!
PippiKeymasterI think the yellow will have a nice bright and warm feel. Best of luck with it!
PippiKeymasterGreat points Jon. Something that crossed my mind when you mentioned about the drivers’ sides being swapped was the side of the vehicle that all the utilities are located on. In the US, we all back in or pull into a spot and have our starboard sides next to the electric and sewer plug ins. Perhaps that’s opposite in the UK because of the opposite driver’s side.
PippiKeymasterHi Fwlady, I know a LOT of people living in their RVs and trailers with entire families. It’s totally doable. Don’t worry. You’ll meet others like you too! π
Happy trails!

PippiKeymasterHi Dale, unfortunately mine isn’t so green in the RV either! I wonder if it has to do with the greater temperature fluctuations? In fact, I don’t have the greenest thumb in general even though I try and want to. My mom is an amazing gardener and plant parent but I didn’t get those genes or traits.
What kind of plants have you not had success with? You may want to try an aloe plant and something else hearty and made for indoor enjoyment.
