    SCJax, how do you know that the engine is overheating, temperature gauge or warning light? It is not likely but maybe one of them is giving a false reading. Maybe a muffler shop could check the exhaust system and see if that is the problem.

    Whatever you do, don’t let a discharged battery freeze (and crack the case) Always keep them fully charged when stored in below freezing weather. I just looked it up and “A 100 percent fully charged battery will not freeze until approximately minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit”. A discharged battery will freeze at a little below 32degs.

    Probably too late now for you (April ’18) but I would take the vehicle battery out (optional), wash it with warm water and a little soap, clean the terminals, check and fill the electrolyte levels, charge it with a battery charger for at least 24 hours and then test it with a hydrometer. A further test is to take it to an auto parts store after it is charged and have them load test it (for free). This will help you determine whether you need a new battery or not.
