Pippi~~ Thank you very much for providing such a detailed response with so much relevant info! You are most certainly a walking wealth of knowledge about this stuff! You are actually the one who made me really interested in the RV lifestyle~~ not just because of economics but it seems there is a very unique freedom that can come with RV living.
I’ve been trying to catch up with my posts and responses in the forums here tonight and in another thread, I believe I mentioned the RV I was looking at…. I learned the guy really wasn’t asking what it was worth and I think someone realized that before me and snapped it up. Heh. But I have learned so much through your videos and also interacting here, it is great! There are some other pretty informative people on YouTube that post vids about RV living. But I really like what you have done. 😉 Plus……. I must say, girl, that your skills in renovating and being artistic with all of that is unparalleled on YouTube. Just on your renovation skills alone not even relating to RV’s is enough for great content. I do feel like you are not utilizing Twitter enough, no offense. I feel like Twitter is the best catalyst for generating constant followers, at least in many circumstances. Maybe not RV living in particular because it’s so “niche” but…… Check your notifications from me on Twitter. Want to mention something..
Greg T.ParticipantGood point, Pippi~~ Quite often, our state agencies do very similar jobs but go under different names. Where I am now, the agency is called the “Department of Human Services,” but just as my driving bureau has a somewhat uncommon name, other states’ agencies may go under alternate names.
One thing reading this thread reminded me of just now is that many states… and this does not have to do with insurance or anything… but many states now have “unclaimed assets” websites which allow you to search for funds/assets which you are legally entitled to but have not claimed. I actually successfully searched for and received some money before from such a website/agency.
What that is is like… In my case, I had left a job once some years ago and I never picked up my last paycheck. I did not have direct-deposit and the company decided to just not mail it to me because they are greedy or don’t care or whatever. Well, I plugged my name into an unclaimed money/asset website for the proper state (Usually they are state-run.) and to my surprise…. Oh wait… Sorry…. This is kind of humorous~~~ I was at a new job and this goofy co-worker of mine was on the website and put my name into it and said, “Greg, did you know you have money owed to you on here?”
So yeah… I had left a previous job and never received my last paycheck. So I went on myself after he told me and filled out a claim for it and the state sent me a check for the money. It wasn’t a WHOLE lot but hey…. one missed paycheck is one missed paycheck, right? Well… these state sites typically also include inheritances people don’t know about or maybe even settlements from class-action lawsuits or whatever. So they are worth checking. I wouldn’t expect to become a millionaire but I ended up getting several hundred dollars that I didn’t know about! Not bad! 🙂
Greg T.ParticipantThank you, Roger and Pippi, for responding and I am absorbing your valid points. I think the guy must have sold the RV I mentioned pretty quick because I looked up the average value for that one and it was about double what he wanted and seemed to be in at least decent shape….. also, he never returned my call, LOL. So I think it was probably some guy who didn’t really care about the money and just wanted to sell it.
But at least I learned something through this experience and hopefully, you know, people who are considering similar things can read these threads we make or contribute to and get something out of them. I appreciate the feedback. I just was really surprised that a person wouldn’t be able to even be PRESENT at an inspection. Seems really ludicrous. To Pippi directly, yeah, I live very close to Elkhart so in retrospect, I was thinking… “This is like the birthplace of 90% of RV’s in the country probably so…. I am sure there are people around here who are worthy to do inspection.” LOL.
Well, anyway…….. XD

Greg T.ParticipantWoah, woah, woah…. No deal. Just saw this on their website: “We do not allow customers to be present during this inspection.”
WHAT???
So I can’t be present during the inspection I’m paying for? How would I know the inspection was ever done at all? OK….. Guess I *will* need to go with a local inspector. Luckily… ha ha ha… I live rather close to Elkhart, Indiana, the great grand-daddy of RV manufacturing so I should be able to easily find someone.
