MelioParticipant
Don’t ask the park about internet access and which spots are the best. tell them you will pay for the site after you inspect it because you don’t want nails in your tires!
all the while, when you go driving around the park stop in various spots you might be using and check the wifi signal – if you need a tool for this. get one. because camping on a spot with crappy wifi and no cell signal is a nightmare to the internet addict. there’s not enough campfires and smores to cure it.
also, once you get a good signal spot, you can pretty much figure out where the access points are – and if they work ok by asking the campers there around those spots before you park it. they will be honest. RVYELP.com doesnt exist 🙂 but if you make a bad comment about internet on a review site, it’s NOT going to look good for the campsite and you are ruining the campsite reputation for camping, it doesnt matter if the internet sucks or not. camping isnt internet!
so seriously consider comments like that. it hurts the business of the people who not only live the dream but support ours by cutting the grass around our spots for us and doing all the work to make the site clean and respectable.
MelioParticipantMy tires on my camper made in Y2K (year 2000 for newbs) had original tires on it. and the tire dates were from 1989!!!!!!!!!!!
the camper company had them on the rack from a large purchase and put em on at the sale time in 1999. my camper was sold as a 2000 model. with 1989 tires.
now get this, we camped 4 times and did short trips, so the tires never really heated up.
Friday, this friday (July 22, 2016) I was heading home about a 2.5 hour trip from a really nice campsite in South Carolina called Camp Lake Jasper. it’s nice look it up.
so about 10 minutes, litterally – one of my two axel tires blew. front drivers.
the thing tore my skirting off and damaged the inside of the wheel well. i can see into the camper from the hole. i have photos, cant upload em. could put links it.
two tires, second one blew at 2 hours into the trip just when i thought i was almost home, ended up spending 500 on brand new tires. 10 ply, rated for 80k miles and weight of triple of my camper.
anyhow
MelioParticipanteveryone knows about Walmart parking lots for overnight camping – but check to see if it’s allowed, many Walmart parking lots are either too small to accommodate or simply not allowed. there is a website for it. google Walmart RV parking.
